Young, beautiful, and somewhat mysterious, Aerith met Cloud while selling flowers on the streets of Midgar. She decided to join him soon after. Her unusual abilities allow her to heal the party, but she seems more interested in the deepening love triangle between herself, Cloud and Tifa.

Aerith is a central character in the original game, and easily one of the most memorable. If you've played the game, you know why. If you haven't, you've probably been spoiled for it.

Aerith is a young girl living in the slums of Midgar with her adoptive mother, Elmyra. In Crisis Core, the prequel to the original game, Aerith meets Zack, a SOLDIER who falls through the roof of her church. The two get to know each other, but their relationship is often interrupted by Zack's work, and it's not long before he leaves for a job he never returns from.

Years later, Aerith meets another man who falls through the roof, Cloud; soon after, she finds herself swept up in his quest. There's something about Cloud that doesn't entirely sit well with her, though: Cloud bears an uncanny resemblance to Zack. He acts like him, walks like him, talks like him — he even has the same job as him.

So even as they travel around the world, following the ghost of Cloud's past named Sephiroth, Aerith gets closer and closer to Cloud, trying to make sense of this mystery. And along the way she gets closer to the mystery of her own past, the heritage of an Ancient.
